Beef Tips & Rice

Ingredients

  • Gravy:
  • 2 -3 lbs stew meat
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 TBS canola oil
  • 1 TBS unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 TBS all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Rice:
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups rice

Preparation

Step 1

In crock pot add stew meat and onion. Add 4 cups of water, ensure the meat submerged. Add salt and pepper. Mix well.

Cook on low for 8 - 10 hours, or high for 4 - 6 hours.

When you come home, heat oil and butter in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add flour and cook, stirring 1 minute. Stir in water, broth, Worcestershire sauce. Simmer on low until gravy is thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour gravy into crock pot. Allow to cook while preparing rice.

Bring the water for the rice to a boil then stir in the rice. Cover, reduce heat to low and cook for 15 minutes.

Stir in rice and allow to cook 10 - 15 minutes.
