Grilled Steak with Spiced Mushroom Salad

This is a zone recipe from the Zone Diet cookbook 150 Zone-Perfect Meals. I feel better if I drop a carb so this recipe will yield 4 - 3 block meals.
The original recipe was 1 - 4 block meal so I tripled the protein (12 blocks) and doubled the carbs (8 blocks). This will make 4 meals consisting of 3 blocks protein & 2 blocks carbs then balancing the fat to equal 3 blocks fat.

Ingredients
- Salad:
- 12 oz. lean beef (12 protein)
- 2/3 cup cooked potato, thinly sliced (2 carb)
- 1 1/2 cups red onion, thinly sliced (1 carb)
- 4 cups mushrooms, thinly sliced (1 carb)
- 2 cups red pepper, thinly sliced (1 carb)
- 2 cups asparagus spears, chopped (2 carbs)
- 1 1/2 cups scallions, chopped (1 carb)
- Seasonings:
- 4 teaspoons olive oil (12 fat)
- 10 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 6 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 2 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- salt & pepper to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl, combine beef, 2 teaspoons olive oil, 6 tablespoons vinegar, mustard, & 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce. Turn meat to cover with mixture. Cover bowl & refrigerate for 4 hours.
Heat remaining oil in a medium nonstick saute pan. Saute beef until cooked through.
In a small bowl, whisk together remaining vinegar, remaining Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt & pepper.
In another bowl, combine the potato, onion, mushrooms, pepper, asparagus, & scallions. Pour on dressing & toss to coat.
Spoon salad onto serving dish & top with meat.
