Honey And Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Crust
  • 2/3 C. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 C. ice water
  • 1 Tbs. balsamic vinegar
  • Filling
  • 5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 2 Tbs. honey
  • 3 Tbs. Splenda
  • 2 Tbs. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbs. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

For the Crust

Place olive oil in a silicone container and place in the freeze until firm. Remove and place in a food processor. Add flour, salt, baking powder, ice water and vinegar into the food processor and process until a ball forms.

Place dough into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Please in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Remove crust from the refrigerator. And roll out on a floured surface until the thickness is between ½ and ¼ of an inch. Place crust in a pie pan and bake for 8 minutes to set the crust.

For the Filling

In a large bowl, combine apples, honey, Splenda, all-purpose flour, lemon juice and cinnamon.

For the Pie

Pour filling onto the pie crust. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. The crust should be golden brown and the apples should be tender.
