Uncle Roy's Egg Nog

This is the real deal. Raw eggs and heavy liquor, but very tasty. A family recipe handed down to me.

Ingredients

  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup 10x sugar
  • 1 cup Rye Whiskey
  • 1/2 cup White Rum
  • 1 quart whole milk
  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Ground Nutmeg for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

Beat egg yolks and salt on high in medium bowl until smooth. Add sugar 1 spoonful at a time until thick and pale yellow. Mix on low and add liquor. Cover and store in fridge, 4-6 hours or overnight.

In large punch bowl combine egg yolk mixture with whole milk and 1 quart heavy cream. In 2 separate bowls beat remaining cream and egg whites until stiff. Fold together, then fold into punch bowl. Garnish with ground nutmeg.
