Smothered Steak and Onion

Ingredients

  • 4 (4oz) lean, cubed sirloin steaks
  • 1/2 tsp salt free lemon herb seasoning
  • vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 1 tsp beef flavored bouillon granules
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups cooked long grain rice (cooked without salt or fat)
  • fresh parsley sprigs (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Sprinkle steak with lemon herb seasoning. Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; palce over medium heat untl hot. Add steak, and cook 2 minutes on each side to sear. Arrange onion rings over steak. Combine bouillon granules and hot water, stirring well; add to skillet. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 12 - 15 minutes or until onion is tender. Remove steak and onion from skillet; keep warm. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water; add to mixture in skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Serve steak and gravy over rice. Garnish with fresh parsley sprigs, if desired.
