Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast (RapidRise)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups bread flour
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • Cornmeal for pan

Step 1

Preheat Oven to 450 degrees

Measure out 1 3/4 cup warm water in bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top of water and allow it to activate, about 10 minutes.

Put the salt and 2 cups of the flour into food processor. Pulse 5 times to blend. Pour in the yeast/water mixture and pulse 5 more times. Add olive oil and remaining flour one cup at a time, pulsing and scraping the sides of bowl until well blended. Dump dough onto well floured bread board and knead for 15 turns, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Place dough in greased bowl and turn to coat all sides. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise in warm place for about 45 minutes. Dough should double in size. Punch dough down and divide in half. Each half should make a 12 inch pizza.

Place on cornmeal dusted pizza stone or pan. Roll up edges slightly to create ridge.

Spread pizza sauce and desired toppings and cheese, bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until crust is light brown.
