Ingredients
- 2 cups plain unbleached four
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- Topping
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1 tsp nutmeg (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Grease (not oil) and flour bottom only of a 13x9 pan. Measure all cake ingredients and mix on low until moistened; them beat for 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour into prepared pan. Blend topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Heat oven to 350 degrees; bake 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
