Chocolate Nut Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 ts salt
  • 1/4 ts baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 ts vanilla
  • 1 egg, separated
  • Filling
  • 6 ounces of semisweet chocolate with 1 TBS butter or shortening
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ts vanilla
  • 1/4 ts salt

Preparation

Step 1

Dough

Cream butter and sugar. Beat egg yolk with vanilla and add to butter mixture. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder. Roll onto a floured board

Filling
Mix together the filling ingredients:

Press the filling over the dough, spreading to the edges. Roll tightly along the long edge. Wrap tightly in foil or plastic wrap. Chill until firm. Slice into ¼ - 1/3 inch slices. Bake on greased or parchment lined sheet for 10 minutes at 375°
