Gingerbread Men

These biscuits are not just for Christmas, you can bake these all year round. The aroma of the gingerbread biscuits from our recipe will definitely draw everyone into the kitchen for a taster and more!
Ingredients
- 350 g plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon gingerbread flavouring
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 100 g butter or margarine
- 175 g soft light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons golden syrup

Preparation
Step 1
1. Put the flour, soda and gingerbread flavouring into a bowl and rub in the butter.
2. Add sugar and stir in the syrup and egg to make a dough.
3. Roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out your gingerbread men. You can also use other cutters - stars and hearts are just as tasty.
4. Bake at 190'C/Gas 5 on greased baking trays (spaced out, as they will spread) for 10-15 mins until golden brown.
5. Leave to firm up for a couple of minutes before placing on a wire rack to cook.
6. Once cooled, decorate with icing.
