Ingredients
- 12 ounce yeast
- 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 teaspoon butter

Step 1
Soften yeast in lukewarm milk. Combine flour, salt and sugar, add beaten egg, melted butter and yeast mixture until elastic. Cover and let rise in warm place 1-1/2 hours. Then form into balls about the size of an egg. Put on a floured board, cover with a cloth and allow to rise until doubled in bulk. Bring water to a boil in large kettle. Drop a few dumplings in at a time. Boil dumplings hard 5 minutes on one side. Pierce dumplings with fork before removing from water. It is very important to pierce dumplings otherwise they will collapse.
