Ingredients
- 400 grams Beef Stew Meat
- 500 grams potatoes, diced
- 250 grams carrots, diced
- 150 grams celery, sliced
- 100 grams parsnip
- 300 grams onions, chopped
- 4 teaspoons Knorr Liquid Beef Base
- 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1/8 cup flour
- 2 cups water
- Salt & Pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare meat by removing all fat, and slicing into bite size pieces. Then pat dry with a paper towel.
Heat oil and butter in Cuisinart Slow Cooker.
Brown meat on all sides (for a tasty stew, it is important to brown meat well)
Remove meat and add onion, sauté until tender.
Stir in flour and continue cooking until flour is golden.
Return the meat to the pan, add the water and stir scraping up all browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Simmer until tender about 1 1/2 hours.
Add remaining vegetables and simmer for about 40 minutes longer.
Add Knorr Liquid Beef Base and salt & pepper to taste.
Other vegetables that could be added:
turnip
frozen Peas
small onions
mushrooms
