Strawberry Jam

Ingredients

  • 1/2 quart ripe strawberries
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 box pectin

Preparation

Step 1

Mash strawberries thoroughly. Using a glass measuring cup, measure exactly 2 cups mashed strawberries into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Let stand 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Mix water and pectin in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling at high heat while stirring for 1 minute. Stir in pectin mixture into fruit mixture. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Pour into plastic containers leaving 1/2 inch head space. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 24 hours. Now jam is read to use. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks or freeze up to one year and thaw in fridge.
