Holiday Macaroons

Ingredients

  • 1 roll Odense Pure Almond Paste, broken into small pieces
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup egg whites, slightly beaten
  • Decorate with: red or green maraschino cherries, rinsed, drained and halved; colored sugar crystals and whole or slivered almonds

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325F. Grease and flour a cookie sheet. With electric mixer on medium speed, combine Almond Paste and sugar until crumbly. Turn mixer to low and add half the egg white. When a paste forms, add remaining egg white. Mix until smooth. Using a teaspoon size crops, spoon cookie mixture onto baking sheet. (Leave space for expansion) Add cherries, colored sugar and almonds as desired. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Let cookies cool completely before removing from pan. Yields: 25-35
