Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream

Made using the time-honored method, without any eggs, this ice cream is rich and luscious.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk or half-and-half

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients. Transfer to an ice-cream maker, and freeze following manufacturer’s instructions. Store in an airtight container.

Makes about 2 quarts
