Cruelty Free Bulgogi "Meat"

By

Delicious alternative to killing cows. There is no need for that, for so many reasons, but especially when the alternatives taste this good. Living in Seattle with it's large Asian community, I am able to buy bulgogi sauce in a jar. But I've posted a bulgogi marinade here, too.

WARNING: I made this... ate a TON.. lunch, dinner, snacks. SO good. But... I got sick as a dog with lower left gut pain like divotriculits or gluten intolerance. Ugh. I'll try to do a SMALL serving soon.

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together and flatten out to the extent that it is shaped like a slab of bacon. It won't take much mixing. Don't try to make it perfect at all... as "real" meat isn't perfect. Just roughly shape it into a block about 1.5 inches thick or so.

Wrap in foil and steam. I used a rice maker with water in the bottom. I put the foil block on top of a small cup to keep it off the bottom. Steam about 30 minutes or so.

Slice thinly. ... again, don't try to be perfect. Then saute in some olive oil. When it starts to brown add another quarter cup of bulgogi marinade and saute until the sauce starts to thicken and stick to the slices. Use the metal spatula to slice the meat even thinner and into irregular pieces. See picture.
