Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 1/2 C. butter; browned and cooled
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 Tbs. flour
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 8 large granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • Struesel:
  • 11/2 C. flour
  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 3/4 C. brown sugar
  • 3/4 C. butter
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Filling: Mix sugar and eggs on high till light and slightly thickened. Stir in flour and vanilla. Beat in cooled browned butter.

Struesel: Mix flour, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon. Cut in butter till forms small crumbs.

Pour filling mixture into 2 deep dish dough lined pie plates. Fill with sliced apples, cover with struesel.

Bake @ 400* for 20 minutes
reduce heat to 350* for an additional 40-50 minutes
