Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter (light butter)
  • 1 cup sugar (1/4 c. sugar, 1/8 c. agave, 1/8 c. applesauce)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour (1/2 whole wheat pastry flour)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large apples, peeled, cored, cut into crescent slices

Preparation

Step 1


1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.


2 Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and beat.


3 Sift together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt.


4 Beat dry ingredients into butter mixture.


5 Stir apples into batter, which will be thick and hard to stir.


6 Turn into a buttered 9" pie pan (8" square dish)and spread smooth.


7 Bake for 1 hour, until just brown.
