Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2-4 tbsp cold water
  • 3/4 cup crisco
  • 2/3 cup Jam
  • 1 egg
  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup incing sugar
  • 4 tsp carnation milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400F, Line baking sheet with parchment
Mix in food processor, flour sugar & salt. Add shortening until dough resembles pea size pieces
Sprinkle 2 tbsp over dough and using spoon press togehter until dough holds together. Add remaining water if necessary

Shape dough into ball , divide in half flatten and wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes

On a piece of plastic roll out 1 disc 9 x 12 inches. cut into equal pieces. Spread favourite jam on 6 of the 12 squares leaving a 1/2 inch boarder
Whisk 1 egg with 1 tbsp water
on other 6 lightly brush with egg mixture. Snadwich egg-brushed side down pieces with the jam pieces. Using fork prongs, press edges togther to seal edges And place on baking sheets
Repeat with remaining dough

Lightly brush tops with reserve egg mixture
Bake in preheated oven 13-15 minutes

Cool on wire rack

Topping

Stir icing sugar & milk togehter and spread over cooled toasties
