Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Coarse or Colored Sugar for decoration

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a electric mixer,cream butter, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and extracts. Combine flour, salt and baking soda;gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours or until easy to handle
2.Roll dough out between lightly floured parchment sheets to 1/8' thick. Cut with a 2 1/2 inch floured holiday cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on parchment lined cookie sheets.
3. Bake at 375 for 8-10minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool for 2 minutes on pans, transfer to wire rack. Decorate as desired
4. Place in airtight containers between layers of waxed paper
