Bill's Big Fruit Dumplings

Czech recipe that has come down through the family. Very unusual but delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 8 prune plums

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingred. Divide dough into 8 pieces. Flatten piece of dough with hands, wrap around prune plum and seal well. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Drop dumplings into boiling water and cover. Turn to medium but make sure water is still boiling. Boil 8 min. Remove from water with a slotted spoon. Split open with 2 forks. Remove pit. Sprinkle 1 tsp sugar over dumpling. Cover lightly with browned butter.

To brown butter: put 4 tbsp butter in small pan and brown on medium until a light brown.
