Tea Scones

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ salt
  • ¼ cup margairine or butter
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients.
Cut in butter to resemble coarse oatmeal.
Add milk to slightly beaten egg and stir into dry ingredients.
Place dough on a floured surface and knead lightly (about 12 times)
Pat dough into desired thickness and cut.
Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 450° for 15 minutes until lightly browned.
Makes 14 small scones or 8 large ones

For variation, add raisin, cheddar, or blueberries
