Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 2 cups chunky peanut butter
- 2 Tbsp marg.
- 5 cups crisp rice cereal
- 1 12oz pkg simisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped peanuts
Preparation
Step 1
In a 3-quart saucepan combine the sugar and the syrup. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes to dissolve the sugar. Remove from heat; blend in the chunky peanut butter and marg. Stir in the rice cereal. Spread the peanut butter-cereal mixture in pan. Set aside. In a heavy saucepan melt the chocolate pieces over low heat. Spread the melted chocolate on top of the bars. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Chill for 1 hour.
BUTTERSCHOTCH-NUT CRISPIES: Prepare bars as above except use one 12-oz pkg (2 cups) butterschotch pieces instead of the simisweet chocolate chips.
