Red Velvet Cake

  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch Salt
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoon cocoa powder, non Dutch
  • 2 Tablespoon red food coloring
  • 12 Tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Grease and flour 2 9-inch cake pans. Preheat oven to 350.

2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in bowl. Whisk buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla and eggs in another bowl. Mix cocoa with food coloring into smooth paste.

3. Cream butter and sugar in mixer.

4. Add one-third of flour mixture. Then add half of buttermilk mixture. Repeat with half of flour mixture, then remaining buttermilk mixture. Then add remaining flour. Add cocoa mixture.

5. Put batter into pans and cook in oven until done.
