Ingredients
- 3/4 c. soft margarine
- 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. finely chopped candied red cherries
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tbsp. margarine
- 1 c. milk chocolate chips
- 20 candied red cherries cut in half
- 20 candied green cherries cut in quarters.
Preparation
Step 1
350 F oven
Line 9 x 13 pan with foil (UNGREASED).
Beat margarine and brown sugar on high speed until combined. Add egg and beat well. Using wooden spoon, stir in flour and add 1 c. cherries and salt. Mix well. With floured hands press dough into pan.
Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes or until golden. Place pan on rack to
COOL.
In saucepan, heat milk and margarine over medium heat until bubbly. Stir Constantly so it does not burn. Stir in chipits until smooth. Spread over baked layer.
Cook 12 minutes more.
Place 40 halved red cherries on the top. Space them evenly. Add the slivers of green cherries for leafs.
Cover and chill. Lift foil out of pan and cut into 40 bars.
