Ingredients
- FOR THE COOKIE RING:
- 3/4 cups Crisco
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons of anise (or almond) (or lemon) extract
- FOR THE GLAZE:
- 2 Cups Confectioners Sugar
- 2 teaspoons anise extract (or other extract)
- 1/3 cup water (or milk)
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, combine Crisco, sugar and eggs together.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt together.
Combine Crisco mixture with flour mixture to make a dough. Add anise extract and milk and combine thoroughly to dough mixture.
Grease a round pizza pan, and spoon dough mixture onto the pan, shaping into a ring.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
Let ring cool completely, then glaze and add colored sprinkles on top.
Slice ring into 1" sized cookies.
TO MAKE THE GLAZE:
In an electric Mixer on medium speed, beat all the ingredients until smooth. Using a metal spatula, frost the tops of the cookies. The glaze frosting will drip down the sides and coat the cookie ring.
