Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup vanilla sugar (or regular sugar)
  • 2 sticks butter, cold & cut into chunks
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1 vanilla bean, scraped

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

In a small bowl, stir flour and baking powder together. Set aside.

Cream butter and sugar together. Stir in egg, extracts and vanilla bean. Slowly incorporate dry ingredients.

Roll dough out onto floured surface to be just over 1/4" thick. Cut cookies out using cookie cutters and place onto parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze 5-7 minutes, then bake 10-12 minutes.

Cool 3 minutes on baking sheet, then remove to cooling racks. Decorate as you like and enjoy!
