Vanilla Bean Christmas Sugar Cookies

These sugar cookies always turn out perfectly and are tender, soft and chewy. Not crispy, which is how all sugar cookies should be! Once they come out of the oven, you can decorate them how you like or eat them plain! Grab a helper and lets make some cookies!

Ingredients

  • 3

    cups all purpose flour

  • 2

    teaspoons baking powder

  • 1

    cup vanilla sugar (or regular sugar)

  • 2

    sticks butter, cold & cut into chunks

  • 1

    egg

  • 3/4

    teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2

    teaspoon pure almond extract

  • 1

    vanilla bean, scraped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. In a small bowl, stir flour and baking powder together. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together. Stir in egg, extracts and vanilla bean. Slowly incorporate dry ingredients. Roll dough out onto floured surface to be just over 1/4" thick. Cut cookies out using cookie cutters and place onto parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze 5-7 minutes, then bake 10-12 minutes. Cool 3 minutes on baking sheet, then remove to cooling racks. Decorate as you like and enjoy!
