Aunt Ollie's Jello Ribbon Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. green or yellow jello (small)
  • 1 pkg. red jello (small)
  • 1 pkg. Knox gelatin
  • 1 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sour cream

Preparation

Step 1

Bottom layer: To the green jello powder add 1 c. boiling water and then 3/4 c. cold water. Pour jello into a 8x8 glass dish. Let set in the fridge.

Middle layer: Soften gelatin in 1/4 c. water. Scald milk and the sugar (approx. 3 min. on med. in microwave). Carefully add the gelatin and stir until dissolved. Add vanilla. Stir. Add 1 c. sour cream and stir until smooth. Slowly pour over the bottom layer. Chill until set.

Top layer: To the red jello powder add 1 c. boiling water and then 3/4 c. cold water. Chill until starting to set, then pour over the white layer. (I pour it over a dessert spoon so it doesn't directly hit the white layer). Let set.
