- Filling:
- Crust
- 1 cup finely chopped pecan
- 1 1/2 c butter, softened
- 3/4 c powdered sugar
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3 pounds gala apples
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 c sweetened dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp buttered, melted
- Garnish:
- Toasted pecan halves or powdered sugar

Step 1
Prepare crust. Preheat oven to 350. Bake pecans , single layer on a shallow pan for about 5 min. Until toasted and lightly fragrant. Cool completely. Meanwhile, beat butter till creamy, add powdered sugar, beat well. Gradually add flour. Beat until crumbles become a ball. Stir in pecans.. Shape 1/3 of dough into a log and refrigerate. Press remaining dough onto sides and bottom of springform pan (9 inch). Cover and chill.
Prepare filling. Peel apples, cut into 1/4 inch slices Toss apples and next 4 ingredients. Spoon into prepared crust, drizzle with butter. Cut dough log into 8 one inch pieces, shape each piece into a 6-8 inch rope, then flatten into strips. Arrange lattice like onto top of pie. Bake about 1 hour until lightly browned, shield with foil to prevent crust from burning during last 30 min of baking. Cool completely on wire rack. Remove sides of pan.
