Ingredients
- 1/2 c butter, softened
- 1 1/2 c granulated sugar, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1 lemon
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 c milk
- 1/2 c chopped black walnuts
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/2 c flour

Preparation
Step 1
Beat butter until creamy.
Beat in sugar and eggs.
Grate rind of lemon.
Halve lemon and squeeze out juice.
Reserve juice and 1/2 c sugar for glaze.
Combine remaining ingredients with butter mixture, mix well.
Pour into greased and floured loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until pick to center comes out clean.
Remove from pan and set on aluminum foil large enough to wrap the loaf.
Pull foil up around sides and ends.
Heat the reserved juice of lemon and half c of sugar, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Pour over top of the loaf and wrap foil across the top. Refrigerate 12 hours.
