Ingredients
- Frosting:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tbsp water

- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup flour
- 3 eggs
- ...................................
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 2 tbsp softened butter
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 - 2 tbsp warm water
Preparation
Step 1
Cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour
Sprinkle with 2 tbsp. water and mix with fork
Cut into half and shape each half into a 12" x 3" strip on an ungreased baking sheet
In saucepan, heat butter and water to a rolling boil.
Remove and stir in almond extract and flour.
Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball (about 1 minute)
Remove from heat and beat in eggs, one at a time until smooth.
Spread over the strips.
Bake at 350 F for 1 hour
Mix frosting ingredients.
Spread frosting on cooled pastry.
Sprinkle with flaked almonds.
