Ingredients

  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2 pcs (2 1/2 to 3 cups)
  • 1 1/2 cups fat-free milk
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup uncooked steel-cut oats
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. ground flax seed
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • Optional garnish: chopped nuts, raisins, maple syrup, additional milk

Preparation

Step 1

Coat inside of slow cooker with cooking spray. Add all ingredients except optional garnish to slow cooker. Stir, cover, and cook on low for approx. 7 hours( may vary). Spoon into bowls and add garnish.

Can be doubled in a large cooker. This recipe is good for a small cooker 2/3 quarts.
