Ingredients

  • 2

    apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2 pcs (2 1/2 to 3 cups)

  • 1 1/2

    cups fat-free milk

  • 1 1/2

    cups water

  • 1

    cup uncooked steel-cut oats

  • 2

    tbsp. brown sugar

  • 1 1/2

    tbsp. butter

  • 1/2

    tsp. cinnamon

  • 1

    tbsp. ground flax seed

  • 1/4

    tsp. salt

  • Optional garnish: chopped nuts, raisins, maple syrup, additional milk

Directions

Coat inside of slow cooker with cooking spray. Add all ingredients except optional garnish to slow cooker. Stir, cover, and cook on low for approx. 7 hours( may vary). Spoon into bowls and add garnish. Can be doubled in a large cooker. This recipe is good for a small cooker 2/3 quarts.
