Every time I make this I change something..You can use all turkey (which I haven't done yet) or all beef if you prefer. I like mine meaty so I use both along with the buca crumbles) Its all up to the way you like it.
- 30 mins
- 90 mins
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
- 1 Medium Onion diced
- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 1 pound chop meat (80/20)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (28 ozs)
- 1 small can tomato sauce (8 ozs) Hunt's made for chili sauce is the best
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 tsp. Cayenne
- 1 cube beef boullion
- 1 pkg taco or chili seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cans red kidney beans (15 ozs) rinsed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- sour cream and green onions for garnish
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oil in a 5 1/2 quart pot over medium heat. Add onions, green pepper and chili powder. Saute for about 10 minutes until onion and green pepper is tender. (keep an eye on this step because it will stick to bottom of pan and must be constantly scrapped)
Add the turkey and chopmeat and brown. Break up into chunks with wooden spoon while browning. Add the next 8 ingredients (from Boca to Salt) Simmer uncovered stirring occasionally for 30 minutes. Add in kidney beans and cook for an additional 4 or 5 minutes or until heated through. Serve topped with cheese, sour cream and onions if you like.
