Cornbread Dressing

Ingredients

  • 6 cups day old cornbread
  • 3 cups day old bread
  • 4 oz butter
  • 2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 2 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1-2 cups broth, or as needed
  • 1 tbsp (heaping) Sage
  • 1 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 400 degrees

Mix ALL breadcrumbs in a large bowl.
In a saucepan over medium heat, saute celery, onion and bell peppers in butter. Do not brown.

Combine veggies with breadcrumbs. Stir in broth, enough to moisten. Stir in the seasonings and beaten eggs, blending well.

Spread in 15x10 pan and bake for 20-30 minutes.

*Use a disposable pan
