Mrs. Mcnab's Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teasp. salt
  • 1 teasp. baking soda
  • 2 teasp. cream of tartar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter room temperature
  • 1 egg room temperature lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup currants or raisins

Preparation

Step 1

Grease sheet pan

Rub butter into dry ingredients

In small bowl, stir together egg and buttermilk.

Pour gradually into flour mixture. If too moist, add sprinkles of flour.

Stir in raisins. If mass is too thick, add dough hook and knead for 2 mins.

Divide into 4 parts flatten with knuckles about 6 inches and 1/2 inch thick

Prick with tines of fork and divide into quarters

Bake for 15 mins. @ 375 degrees
