Chunky Chai Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 Dash ground cloves
  • 1 Dash freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. Combine cider and apples in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally.

2. Stir in sugar and remaining ingredients; simmer 12 minutes, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick.

3. Cover and chill.
