Ingredients
- 2 lime slices
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar 2 fresh basil leaves
- 3 to 4 tablespoons Basil-Lemongrass Rum (recipe below)
- 1/2 cup ginger beer
- Garnish: lemon slices, fresh basil
- BASIL-LEMONGRASS RUM
- 1 (7S0-milliliter) bottle white rum
- 2 fresh lemongrass stalks, crushed to reveal core
- bunch fresh basil
- lemon rind, white pith scraped away
- Pour about 3 tablespoons rum out of bottle (so that remaining ingredients will fit). Add remaining ingredients. Steep in the bottle at least 1 week. Makes 750 milliliters.
Preparation
Step 1
1. Place lime slices in an old-fashioned
or rocks glass; add sugar and basil. Crush with a muddler or wooden spoon until sugar dissolves.
2. Fill glass with ice, and top with Basil¬Lemongrass Rum and ginger beer. Garnish, if desired. Makes 1 cocktail
