Ingredients
- 1 package yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 4 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups swiss cheese
- 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 3/4 teaspoons salt
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup egg beaters® 99% egg substitute
- 2 quarts water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg, beaten with pinch salt
Preparation
Step 1
1. Sprinkle yeast over 1/4 cup water and sugar. Leave 10 mins.
2. Process flour-rest of sugar-salt. Add butter and eggs. Mix well. Add water if too dry. Knead well. Place in sprayed bowl. Cover with damp cloth. Let rise 1 hour.
3. Shape into bagels. Cover and let rise 15 mins.
4. Heat oven to 400.
5. Boil water and sugar. Simmer each bagel 1 min. per side. Drain. Place on sprayed sheets. Brush with egg.
6. Bake 20 mins.
Notes: Needs honey!
