Ingredients

  • 6 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 pkg yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup chopped blanched almonds
  • 3/4 cup candied fruit
  • 1/3 cup seedless raisins
  • Powder Sugar Frosting

Preparation

Step 1

Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast. Heat milk, water and margarine to 120-130 degrees. Add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer. Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour. Beat at high speed 2 minutes. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl turn to grease top. Cover; let rise until double, about 1 1/4 hours. Punch dough down knead in almonds, fruit and raisins. Divide into 3 equal pieces. Roll each into an oval 12x7 inches. Fold in half lengthwise. Place on greased sheets. Cover and let rise until double. About 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 20 - 25 minutes. Frost with powder sugar frosting.
