Baking Powder Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour, baking powder & salt into a large bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 6 to 8 times. Roll out to a 1 inch thickness. Cut into rounds with a floured 2 inch cutter. Place rounds on a greased cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Re-roll and cut remaining dough. Bake in a 425 oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
