Great Canadian Maple Cake


When we were in Quebec City, we bought a bottle of 100% Canadian maple syrup; this recipe was on the bottle label.

  • CAKE
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 3 cups powdered sugar



Step 1

Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add dry ingredients alternating with syrup and milk. Pour into greased and floured cake pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until cake tester comes out clean. Remove from pan and let cool.

Top with icing made from butter, maple syrup, and powdered sugar.
