grandma whites sugar cookies

made in two parts cookie and filling

Ingredients

• cookie
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup sour milk
• 1 cup shortening
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp bakig soda
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp nutmeg
• filling
• 1 cup chopped figs
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 2 tbl spn butter
• 1 cup water
• 4 tbl spn lemon juice

Preparation

Step 1

use enough flour to roll. i like to put into ref.to cool for awile before rolling, they roll and cut better when chilled

filling: combine all ingreadients except sugar, simmer slowly until figs are tender, add sugar simmer for 10 minutes more.

fill cookies and bake
