Jewish Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 5 large apples, peeled, cored &
  • sliced
  • 3 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together first 2 ingredients. Sprinkle that mixture on sliced apples and set aside. Beat all of the remaining ingredients together until smooth. Grease
and flour a Bundt pan. Pour 1/3 batter into pan and then arrange 1/3 slices of apples on that. Repeat bu putting 1/3 more batter in pan. 1/3 more slices on that, 1/3 more batter and then remaining apple slices on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool about 10-15 minutes before removing from pan.

NOTE: This cake can be made pareve by substituting 1/4 cup nondairy creamer and 1/4 cup water for the 1/2 cup of milk required.
