Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium size onion, sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 can (28 ounces)stewed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 small head of cabbage - shredded (8 cups)
Preparation
Step 1
Heat large nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add beef and cook for 6 minutes until no longer pink. Stir regularly. Drain fat. Stir in onion and cook 4 minutes. Add garlic, cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes and paste. Break up tommatoes with potato masher. Stir in 1 1/4 cup of water, parsley, salt, oregano, sugar and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add half the cabbage and cook, covered for 5 minutes. Add the remaining cabbage and simmer, covered for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beens if desired.
