Carrot Tsimmes

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chicken fat, or shortening
  • 10 carrots, 10-12; diced (about 2 lbs)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger
  • 3 tablespoons water

Preparation

Step 1

1. Melt fat in skillet. Add carrots and cook 1 minute.

2. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil and simmer. Cook, covered, until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain if necessary.
