Ingredients

  • 1 3 lb head of cabbage, finely shredded -- (about 12 cups)
  • 1/2 cup green onions, including some tops -- sliced
  • 2 3/4 cups sesame seed -- toasted
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup peanut oil
  • 1/2 cup white wine or rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 3 oz pkgs oriental flavor ramen noodles soup
  • 1 cup slivered almonds -- toasted
  • 2 11 oz cans mandarin orange segments -- drained

Preparation

Step 1

Combine cabbage, onion, and sesame seed in large bowl. In small bowl
whisk together sugar, oil, vinegar, salt pepper, and flavoring packet from
ramen noodles. Whisk until sugar is dissolved. Pour over cabbage and
refrigerate for 1 - 2 hours. Shortly before serving, break up noodles and
toss into salad. Add almonds and oranges and toss again gently.
