Ingredients

  • 2 cups canned chick peas
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp tahini

Step 1

Using a food processor fitted with the steel blade, drop in the garlic. Process until the garlic adheres to the sides of the bowl. Turn off the machine and scrape down the sides of the bowl. Ad the chick peas and cumin. Process to a coarse puree and scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Combine the lemon juice and olive oil, and with the machine running, pour into the processor. Add the tahini and process until the hummus is smooth. If the mixture seems thick or dry, thin out with liquid from the beans, water or yogurt. Season generously with salt.
