Give this hearty, satisfying casserole a Tex-Mex flavor by adding canned green chiles and chili powder to the meat mixture and stirring in reduced-fat cheddar instead of the mozzarella cheese.

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cook the ziti according to package directions, then drain and set aside. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet, then add the turkey, onion, bell pepper, salt and ground pepper. Cook, stirring often, until all pan juices evaporate and the turkey is browned, about 10 minutes.
3. Stir in the ziti, marinara sauce, and ricotta. Spoon the mixture into a large nonstick baking pan. Top with the mozzarella cheese. Bake, uncovered, until the filling is hot and the cheese is melted, 40-50 minutes.
