Grandmom's Birthday Cake Frosting (Whipped Cream Froating)

This recipe is great for a whipped cream frosting or dessert topping that must be held for several hours before serving.

    t unflavored gelatin

  • 1

    T cold water

  • 1

    C whipping cream

  • 2

    T powdered sugar (optional)

  • ½

    t vanilla (optional)


Soften unflavored gelatin in cold water about five minutes. Heat until gelatin melts. Add melted gelatin to whipping cream, whisking so gelatin and cream are well combined. Chill mixture at least one hour. If desired, before whipping, sweeten and flavor with powdered sugar and vanilla. Whip with electric mixer until it is very thick and holds it's shape. It will thicken even more after refrigeration and holds up for two to three days in frig. Use as frosting on Grandmom's Birthday Cake.
